Your Bike Fitting Experience

At Richmond Cycles we believe that bike fitting is more than just aligning a cyclist with their bike; it's about optimising performance, comfort, and safety.

By tailoring the bike's geometry to the rider's unique biomechanics, a proper bike fit can enhance power transfer, efficiency, and aerodynamics. When it comes to comfort, it can alleviate discomfort by addressing issues like saddle sores, numbness, and lower back pain, leading to longer, more enjoyable rides. Importantly, a well-fitted bike reduces the risk of overuse injuries, such as tendonitis or IT band syndrome, ensuring cyclists can sustain their passion for the long haul.

Ultimately, investing in a professional bike fit pays dividends in both performance and overall riding experience.

Bike Fitting FAQ

Do I need to have purchased my bike from you to get a bike fit?

No, we accept bikes from all other retailers as well as second hand bikes.

How do I know if my position is incorrect?

Signs of an incorrect position include discomfort or pain in the neck, shoulders, back, hands, wrists, knees, or saddle area.

Do you only do bike fits for road bikes?

No, we do bike fit for all bikes.

Will I have to change all my components? Are they included in the cost of the bike fit?

We will discuss with you what we think needs changing so you can make an informed decision. The price of the components isn't included in the bike fit but we will only advise to change what is necessary.

How long does a bike fit take?

We estimate a time of around 3 hours to get the right position on your bike.

How often do I need to review my position?

It's a good idea to get a bike fit whenever you purchase a new bike, experience discomfort or pain while riding, or undergo significant changes in your flexibility, strength, or riding style. Some cyclists opt for periodic bike fits every few years to ensure their fit remains optimal.

What do I need to bring with me?

It's helpful to bring your bike, cycling shoes, and any accessories you regularly use (such as cycling shorts or orthotics). Wear cycling clothing or form-fitting attire that allows the fitter to assess your body's alignment and movement accurately.
